Man, so finally the end is in-sight (i think)… on the final approach to the Outdoor Retail Show. Retrieved promo-cards from Boulder yesterday and they look great!
Now i’m just putting the final touches on some portfolio-images to integrate into the iPad presentation… and then i think i’m ready to re-launch!
Video-ends are coming together i think with the TwoPenguins-alliance as well, which i’m VERY stoked about.
Sounds like we’re going to be working on our promo-piece in late-august, to launch at the world of Outdoor clients… I’m very excited!
Not much else to report. Another wonderful weekend of amazing mountain biking in Crested Butte was knocked-out last weekend… and looking forward to getting back on the bike hopefully this evening, for a pedal someplace… perhaps Snowmass…? Maybe on the hard-tail?
Probably time to get out and shoot a bit more too, i’d think. Need also to work on video-clips of biking from around here so i can complete a bit of a local-project that i wanted to compile from this summer.
I’m off the back once again. Been tied to the desk doing retouching-work and prepping for the OR-show in SLC.
Heading to CB tonight to ride this weekend. May have some photo-updates upon my return!
What a fun weekend! Actually stepped away from the computer and got out and did some shooting! My friend Dave Clifford (www.davecliffordphotography.com) was teaching at the annual Rock and Ice Photo Workshop up in Marble, CO. So i went up there to (ostensibly) help him drag lights and gear about, and to lend a hand with answering questions etc. What a fun-day we had! Met in Redstone and then drove up past Crystal City… hiked up a scree field and then worked with some 5Ten athletes (climbers) and chatted about photography with students who’d signed up for the workshop! What a fun day! Weather cooperated, light was ok (mostly mid-day, but workable), and everyone was stoked i think! Was super-great to meet new and interesting people and to be outside doing what i love most! Photography!!!!
ok, sorry for the ridiculous delay in getting new material posted. I realized tonight that i have WAY too much 1st-person bike-video-footage now, and i need to get out the big camera and start shooting from the ground. Going to work on getting an ‘Aspen Singletrack’ compilation together for the end of summer… Also need to get cracking on some new lifestyle-content (stills). Who doesn’t have a day job out there and is into hiking/pedaling?
so… i think the theme of the week is ‘evolution’. SO many things are going on over here that i don’t really know where to begin. The business is changing/evolving. Things went from the mundane routine of years-past (well, not exactly mundane, but you get the idea… routine i should say) to a shotgun-pace-development with a new rep, an invitation to www.at-edge.com (which was/is amazing and rather sudden), to a massive learning-session with incredible amounts of studying about re-touching… to now contemplating the foundational aspects of getting my new MultiMedia production company launched and marketed. On top of it all, the weekend brought rain/snow to the home… which sort of put a damper on the bike-riding frenzy, and enabled some more constructive work-time that had perhaps been lacking in the past week. I’m also getting off my ass to write here again, which i’ve sorely missed. I spend some time up at the Monastery in Old Snowmass again this evening for some reflection and singing which is always inspirational… MANY thanks, brothers…
Wow.. what an amazing afternoon today! Drove over to Vail to ostensibly grab a few frames of some of the Kayak Freestyle qualifier event, as part of the kick-off for the Teva Games… First year that i’ve brought the 400mm with me, and was sort of wondering why i didn’t bring it last year? WHAT a fun-lense to shoot kayaking with, especially at the play hole in the village at Vail!
Drove over the Pass on the way over, and was reminded of why i’d wanted to move to this beautiful state since i was a child. Gorgeous snow-capped peaks emerging from verdant-green meadows populated with some rather healthy looking cows graced every vista the entire way. It’s summer, but not yet wildflower-season so we’ve yet to witness even more colour blossoming forth from the amazing landscape.
Teva was crowded as usual, but splendidly organized and truly a treat to attend. Parking however, in Vail still leaves something to be desired; what with the confusion surrounding the parking garage-scene etc.. (rockstar parking was still scored, by going in thru the out-door) )
The way home featured the obligatory stop thru Costco in Eagle, a sandwich from Heidi’s Brooklyn Deli (yum), and then one of the more-amazing Buttermilk-Loop mtb rides i’ve done for a while… this evening. Shot some 1st-person video with the GoPro that i’ll post up here shortly, along with some photos from the day!
My apologies for being remiss with my blogging and video-posting. I’ve been back in Aspen and getting some new content edited and posted to the website (photos), and need to compile some video and post up another new clip. Also have some new stuff for Keen Footwear; a new relationship that i’ve been working on for a short while that looks like it’s about to take flight!
So.. more here shortly… just back in from the ride… i’ll shower up and then post some photos and maybe some video!
Hope everyone had a fantastic Memorial Day Weekend!
Cheers!

Just got back into fruita from moab. Some of the most amazing wind I think I’ve seen in quite some time. Blowing sand and thousands of people camping didn’t seem like such a great idea any longer… So now we’re back in Fruita… Working on some low-key concept-stuff for KEEN footwear.
I’ll update with some photos and video here shortly! Hoping for less wind tomorrow so we see fewer tents littering the countryside )
This was shot for the Southwest Seattle Boys & Girls Club. Our first volunteer project for an organization. To-date they’d had video shot with a flip that they’d used for promotional purposes… but apparently nothing super-great. I’m no professional videographer, and was there ostensibly to get some stills together. The stills will be used for promotional use on the website and in printed matter. Video clips were taken for them to integrate into some of their existing video… but in the end, Rachel’s insistence in using something in its entirety won-out. This was the result of staying up that night and compiling… and then FTP’ing over for them to use at a breakfast the next morning.
MANY thanks to the Boys & Girls Club for the opportunity for us to give back in a way that was SO amazing! THANK you for helping us to spread the love in Seattle!
Today marks the end of the first segment of this amazing road-trip. Wonderful friendships have been made, old-friends have been visited and alliances have been forged. We’re moving forward with the mission to bring the light… Today also marks our first mission to give back, this time in the form of image/media-support to the Seattle Boys and Girls Club. www.positiveplace.org is where I’m headed.
This time i’m solo, but the spirit of the team is very-much intact.
I’ll post up some video this evening of the experience and we’ll see if we can penetrate this rainy Seattle weather with some light.
Many thanks also once again, to all who are making this trip possible. SO great to you all in my life, and thank you for YOUR light!
